Lots of Catching Up!

Seriously, I need to start doing better with my blog...I hate playing catch up!

Home Improvements: I love doing home improvements, and at our house we have been in full swing....I have gotten the kitchen and 2 baths measured for hardwood flooring, and the living room measured for carpet. I have painted the living room (1 wall) burgundy, and LOVE it. At this time, I am working on tearing border down in my bedroom and painting the walls teal and brown. Also, I have also been working on getting the basement organized, and waiting to get shelving put up :) I LOVE organization! All my fall decorations are up, and I plan on working outside at some point to tear up flowers that have died and pull weeds.

College: I have taken a break from college to spend time with my wonderful children...I love not having to tell Trevor to entertain his sister while I do my homework, and I am sure he enjoys not having to do it! I plan to start back in the Spring (Maybe).

Career: I am currently actively looking for a career change. Has a few interviews and just waiting to hear back. Want to be more challenged and more job security...if there is any such thing these days as job security.

Fitness: I was into a fitness kick for about a week, now I am not! I did find a free treadmill, so hopefully I can find time to do that each night. I have gained weight, and would really like to loose that weight! We will see!

Covered Bridge: Loved the Covered Bridge this year...it was really cold on Sunday when we went, however well worth it, I found lots of bargains, and really enjoyed my day! Still havent gotten all the stuff hung on walls I bought, but really like it! I can't wait until next year!

School: Trevor should be getting his report card soon, and I am almost positive he has done really well the 1st nine weeks. It amazes me how much he has learned and all he knows for being 7....ooops.... 7 1/2!

Potty Training: Super excited to write about this. At first Kelsye would cry and scream on the potty at daycare but use the potty. At home she would have nothing to do with it...I tried to bribe her and everything, nothing worked...until last night. She had used the potty all day at daycare, and when I took her home she told me had to go and ever since then she has went...not 100 percent sure she is ready for underwear, but she is making progress....Yay! I won't have to be buying diapers much longer...hopefully!

Anniversary-James and I have been married 6 years today. I remember getting married in Gatlinburg, it was so beautiful that day, and we got married outside. I love him more each day!

Well thats all for now! Have a great day!

Brrrr.....

WOW! We went from Summer to Winter in a blink of an eye! Okay maybe not Winter, but Fall! I dread cold weather. I dread getting the kids out in the cold, sickness, and snow. I do look forward to Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas though! Speaking of Halloween, I have no clue what my kids are going to be yet...I better get to thinking!!

Not much has been going on lately, besides the usual. I am in the process of starting some home improvements. I want to paint one wall in my living room a burgandy color to give it some color, as well as paint my bedroom brown and teal. I already have the comforter, and the paint I selected matches perfectly! I want these completed during October, and then after the new year, I want to get hardwood floor in my kitchen and two bathrooms, as well as carpet in my living room. After all of this work, my house will be just the way I like it! Oh, well except for downstairs. James is planning on building me some shelving for storage, and I want him to build a wall and block off the storage area of the basement. I told him that could be his winter project....he just looked at me.....he is too focused on deer hunting these days...opening day is tomorrow...I wont see him until it is over! Ha!

This week has been a long one. It started out with James in pain with a horrible tooth ache. Our regular dentist is out of town, so we got him in in Washington and they pulled it. He feels much better! Last night we went to the Jr. High Volleyball game to watch my cousin, but tonight we have no plans really. Trevor will have homework so that will take up a little bit of time. I think ordering a pizza sounds pretty good tonight! I am not much for cooking...lol.

This weekend is pretty busy. Saturday morning, we will go to garage sales, then we are taking Trevor to the demo derby that night. Sunday is my mom's birthday, and we are going to the hometours at Montgomery, and eating at Mi Pueblo afterwards! YUMMY!

Well that is all for now...hope you all are having a great day. I want to say congrats to Chelsa (blogger friend) on finding out she is having another sweet little boy! I also want to give an early congratulations to Sarah Swartzentruber for the birth of her baby boy on October 1st!

The Past Couple Weeks

Not much has been going on in the Riggins Household the past couple weeks, besides the normal daily routine! I am taking a break from college, and I am loving it! It has given me some extra time to spend with my kids! I had a garage sale last weekend, and got rid of some clothes, lots of toys, and home decor. They are alot of work, but the end result is good----EXTRA MONEY! We went to the turkey trot demo on Sunday. Trevor really enjoyed it. We did get a new kitten, Libby a few weeks ago, and it turns out Libby is not a girl. I took her to the vet this week and was rambling on about how mean SHE was, and how fiesty SHE was, and the vet said "I hate to break it too you but your SHE is a HE! I about died. So now Libby is now named Bo. We call him both though...it is so hard to think he is a boy! He would have made a cute girl! Trevor got his mid term grades for the first nine weeks of school, and he had two B's and an A. We were very proud and so was Trevor!

Today I am working, and tonight we are going to the football homecoming. Tomorrow I will check out a few garage sales, and then we will head to the big Scotland Festival to see the one and only Dora. Trevor has a campout tomorrow night with some friends from school, and we have a housewarming party to attend. Sunday I want to plant the mums I got for fall, and I have a Tastefully Simple party to attend that afternoon.

Have a great weekend!

Playing Catch-up

Hello! I thought today would be a good day to catch up on the last two weeks. Trevor started 2nd grade and loves it....the first couple days were rocky, but ever since he has loved it. He has done really well on his spelling and vocab tests! I am so proud of him. Kelsye is growing like a weed, and makes me laugh all the time. She is a character.

We have been enjoying this cool, nice weather. I love having the windows open, and not having to be stuck in a house that is shut up all the time. Before you know it, we will be having to turn our heat on! Boo!

We did add an addition to our family-a kitten-Libby. She resembles our cat Tobi that died a year or so ago, and also resembles Max the cat we have now. Libby just turned 7 weeks old! I love her, and so do the kids! Max, is not fond of her yet....we have tried, but for now she stays in Trevor's room during the day.

I got done with my Managerial Accounting class last night, and got news I got an A in the class. That was by far the hardest class, and not enjoyable. I have decided to take a break from classes. I feel very overwhelmed, and I feel as if my whole life is centered around these classes. I have to make time to do my homework, and that usually means I have to take my kids somewhere so I can concentrate, or leave them to entertain themselves. I will probably start back in the Spring of 2010, and hopefully complete my degree by December 2010.

Well that is all for now, everyone have a safe Labor Day weekend!

Back to school

Trevor's 1st day of 2nd grade is today. He was excited, but last night got a little nervous and cried that he would miss me and his daddy. All was better this morning, and he got on the bus without crying. Here he is on his 1st day of school.

Catching Up

I have had a chance to post lately on what has been going on in the Riggins household! Trevor is all ready for the second grade, and we went last weekend to get his school supplies, and some new clothes. I can't believe he is in the 2nd grade already! Time sure does fly! He has been doing alot with daycare such as going swimming, going to the movies, and today they went to Cascade Park, and the Mills pool in Bloomington. He will start school next Tuesday, so we are planning on taking him putt-putting sometime this weekend, and he wants to go to the new pool at Washington. Our annual Zoo trip is planned for late Sept, and I want to take them to the Children's Musuem! Busy Busy!!

Kelsye is a little riot! She has fallen deeply in love with Elmo-she found two elmos at a garage sale on Saturday, and has not put them down yet. She takes them to daycare and leaves them in the van. At the mall Sunday she had to get two elmo books, which she carries around as well. She loves to play by herself, and has really learned alot this summer. She has to open all doors by herself, and get her own milk out of the refrigerator for her cup-thank goodness she doesnt want to pour it herself too!

I have been busy with work, and HOMEWORK. This accounting class has really taken alot of time and brains-two of which I dont have much of! LOL. Luckily the class is self paced for the 6 week course, which I am so thankful for, but I just don't like falling behind that much. I also pulled some weeds a couple Sundays ago, and developed a huge rash of poison ivy all over my hands and fingers. After a steriod shot and some steriod pills, I have gotten rid of it, and I am so glad! It was very painful and annoying. We also celebrated my neice Bella's 3rd birthday with a Hannah Montana birthday party. I will post some pictures later, she had a blast!

My hubby celebrated is 26th birthday yesterday! I fixed him supper with some of his favorites-corn on the cob, fried zucchini, and pasta salad. YUM! He doesnt like cake that well, so my grandma made him a banana pie-his favorite!

Overall, this has been a pretty busy summer. It is finally hot like Summer's are supposed to be! This weekend, I am hoping to get things rounded up for our garage sale we are having in the middle of Sept, and get completely caught up on homework. Other than that, I will probably hit a few garage sales, and take a couple naps!

Silly Safari Steve and Old Settlers

Friday, I took Trevor and Kelsye to Old Settlers to see Safari Steve, and they LOVED it. Well, all the kids loved him that were there. He brought snakes, alligators, rabbits, grasshoppers, turtles, hedgehogs, owls, and a few other animals. It lasted about an hour, and was really neat. I am thinking of hiring him to do Trevor's birthday party in April. We also went to the baby show on Friday and below Kelsye is having her picture taken with the winner of the boys 12-24 months Quincy Pruett, they go to daycare together! He is a cutie!

Saturday we went back to the Old Settlers and let the kids ride rides. There aren't many there, but Trevor and Kelsye both had a good time and that is all that matters. On Sunday we just hung around home, and mowed and pulled weeds. I also did homework, and will be doing that tonight as well.
This week doesnt seem to be too busy as of now. I am off on Tuesday for a dental appt, then signing Trevor up for school on Thursday. This weekend we are going with my mom to her company picnic, and then on Sunday it is off to Terre Haute to buy school clothes and supplies for Trevor, and fall clothes for Miss Kelsye. Enjoy the pictures below, there is one of Kelsye sitting with the rest of the kids, like a big girl, she is so independent.

Holiday World 2009

What a fun trip we had to Holiday World-kids were great, weather was great, and we really enjoyed ourselves. Trevor rode the roller coasters with his dad, and also the Liberty Launch. I was very proud of him for being so brave. Kelsye loved the water, and the kiddie rides. We wished we lived closer so we could go more often. We got there before the opened, and left shortly before they closed. It was a long day, and the kids were out even before we left the parking lot. I love family trips, and was glad my mom could join us too! Here are some pics of the day.

Way Behind!!!

I am such a SLACKER! I started this blog with all intentions of updating this on a regular basis. This summer has been flying by! In less than a month Trevor will start back to school-I can't believe it! We were really busy with baseball both May and June. We usually spend our free time playing outside, and watching our cousins play in all-star tourneys at various places. We did spend a couple days in Indy with my aunt, and have been going to yard sales and going to cookouts. This Friday we are going to Holiday World. Trevor is so excited! He is tall enough to ride the Pilgrims Plunge and the roller coasters! The rest of the weekend, we will be going to the ball park for a little while to watch an all-star tourney. Kelsye continues to amaze me with the things she says and does. She is so independent. No pics this post, but promise to post some after we go to Holiday World. I hope everyone is having a wonderful day-too bad it is raining!

Trevor & Baseball

This post is dedicated to my little boy Trevor! He never ceases to amaze me! When he was 3 (almost 4 years old)he started playing tee ball at the local park. He played tee ball the next year as well. Last year he started playing pee-wee ball. To be honest, it was a long year. I don't know if he just wasnt interested, or what but he didnt hit the ball that much, and was found playing in the dirt more than watching the ball. I was kind of nervous this year when we signed him up, but did realize he had matured alot in that year. I could tell after the first couple of practices that he was really interested, and was so happy to be playing. Opening day was May 2nd, and our last game ended on Saturday. Playoffs are going on this week. In Pee-wee kids get 5 pitches from a machine. They play 4 innings and play each team in the league 2 times. The first part of the year, Trevor played catcher, and then towards the end he played short stop. He was good at stopping the ball, and even caught a pop fly in the air, and knew to get the out on second after he caught it! In the middle of the season, he got into a slump and struck out about 5 times, and then he would cry! It broke my heart, but James and I practiced with him one Sunday, got his swing back in line, and he never looked back since! Official score books are kept for each team, and each team keeps track of their team record for the year. The better the record is, the better "seed" you get in the play offs. Trevor's team did wonderful this year. They won their first 6 games, then lost 1, won a couple, lost a few, but the record at the end of the regular season, ended up being 10 wins and 4 losses. They tied with another team for 1st place in the Pee-Wee league. They all had to work hard, and play as a team to do this. Being 6 and 7 years old, I can't imagine knowing as much as they all do. Their first play off game was played on Monday, and we won that game. Last night we played but came up short by losing 6-5 :( I figured Trevor would be upset, but he wasnt at all. I would have loved to see his team win the playoffs and being playing on Thursday night this week, but in another way, I am just relieved that it is over! I know, that sounds awful, but you get to the point where you as a parent get so involved and want them to win so bad, and I feel like as young as they are they need to realize they are not ALWAYS going to win. They each got a trophy and will have a little team party to celebrate. This is his last year of pee-wee, so next year he will move up to minor league (10 years and younger). It will be challenge, but I am 100 percent sure, Trevor will like the challenge! Leaving you with a bunch of pics from throughout the year.....Enjoy!

Catching Up

I am not very good at this blogging thing, or maybe it is the fact that I am always on the go! I took vacation the first week of June to prepare for my garage sale (which was a big success). I celebrated my 26th birthday on June 7th by eating at Mi Pueblo (YUM!). Most of my time has been consumed with working, garage saling, homework, working outside, and at the ball park. I will post about baseball and Trevor in the next post and include pictures! This week has been spent at the ball park, and catching up on a few things at the house. Trevor is going with the daycare today on a field trip to watch the Evansville Otter's baseball game. He has went for the last 3 years and loves it. This Saturday he has a birthday bowling party to attend on Saturday, and I will be helping at a golf scramble during the day before the party. Not for sure what my job is at the golf scramble, but I am sure I will figure it out! Sunday is the Daviess County Fair parade, so we will go to that, and Father's Day! James is working nights this week and next, so he is gone from 10:00 at night to 7:00 in the morning. I see him on my way into work, driving home. Hopefully, he will go back to days here in a week or so! I am leaving you all with some pics of Kelsye, Bella (my neice), and Trevor over the last couple weeks.

All About my Kids!

I have read before on some other blogs where they dedicate a post to their kids. I thought it would be a good time to update on my kids accomplishments, etc.

Trevor: Trevor just completed 1st grade and got promoted to 2nd grade. He is super excited and can't wait to learn to write cursive! He had a GREAT report card, and we couldn't be prouder of him! He is still taking art lessons at the daycare each week, and I can tell a huge difference. Also, he is so engrossed in reading-which is great with me! I was always reading when I was his age! He loves math, and can tell time (no more of me lying that it is his bed time when it isn't..ha ha). He is really into sports. He loves to play basketball out back, and is currently the catcher on his pee wee baseball team. He has hit the ball well, and loves the sport! Now, instead of watching cartoons on TV, he watches Sports Center! He is truly a great kid! He cracks me and James up with his comments, and how excited he gets over the littlest things. He is a great big brother, and really tries to teach Kelsye stuff, and plays with her when she wants.

Kelsye: My baby girl is 2 now, but she acts 5! She is a little riot! She talks non-stop! She is starting to say sentences, and repeats everything. Her favorite things to do are play on her swingset, play with Trevor, push around her baby strollers, play with Bella, and cuddle on the couch. Up until recently, she hated having her hair messed with, but now she is all about pig tails, and having her hair washed and combed! If her hair is done for 5 minutes she wants it up! I am glad..it was wild. She also wants her fingernails and toenails painted at all time.....perhaps she will be a girly girl someday! She is alot more independant. She can play forever by herself or with Trevor, which helps me get alot of stuff accomplished. She also loves books, and can sit and look at them a long time. She is such a good eater (maybe too good). She will sit and eat, and eat, and eat! That could explain why she weighs 35 pounds! I guess she is healthy, and a handful to lug around! She loves milk, and water, and loves to carry around her sippy. She has been without a bottle for over a year and never had a pacifier. She is sleeping all night (except when my cat wakes her up to play), and then takes a 2 hour nap in the afternoon.

Well, I better get some work done!

Remember Me?

Geez! It has been a couple weeks since I have updated. I have started to update several times, and then get side tracked and don't remember to go back and update. Not too much has been going on with us. Trevor has baseball games at least 2-3 times per week so that keeps us busy. I have become addicted to EBay these last couple weeks, and trying to get stuff ready for a garage sale on June 6th. Besides that, I have been working, and enjoying the warm weather!

Trevor's last day of 1st grade is today! He was so excited this morning. I can't believe I am old enough to have a 2nd grader! He is very good, and such a big helpful brother! Kelsye is just as rotten as ever. She is becoming more girly now, and wants her hair up and her fingernails and toe nails painted.

I was sick with a headache all weekend-so my 3-day weekend was spent on the couch! I hated it! I feel much better now! We had ball practice last night, and then we will have a game on Thursday and Friday night. Saturday, we plan on checking out the Linton Town Garage Sales. This weekend is also my grandpa's 87th Birthday!!! We will celebrate with cake and ice cream. I am in a Marketing class now for my degree, so that will keep me busy! I will be glad to get my Bachelor's degree early in 2010!

BTW, Odon is having a town wide yard sale on June 6th. Right now there are around 52 different sales. I am excited. We are having one, but I might sneak away and try to find some bargains! My 26th birthday is June 7th-boo for turning another year older.

Well that is all for now-hopefully I can update this a little more frequently from now on.

Mother's Day Weekend!

Hi there! I had a very nice Mother's Day! On Saturday, we just went to garage sales, and then cleaned the house. Sunday I woke up and my mom, Trevor, and Kelsye enjoyed a trip to Walmart and Mi Pueblo! Yum! After we got back, James mowed the yard and we planted flowers at our house, then at my moms! It was such a nice, relaxing day. I did get a huge hanging basket to go on my porch, and 2 nice cards!

This week has been kinda slow! Tonight we have a ball game at the park so we are excited about that. I am just trying to get motivated for our yard sale on June 6th-Actually it is the Odon Town yard sales if anyone is interested in having one of coming! I gotta run, no pictures this time!

Just Catching Up-Kelsye's Party, Trevor's Opening Day & Weekend Excitement!!

WOW! I have alot of catching up to do! I keep sitting down thinking I will update, but with work, homework, and baseball season starting I seem to have no time. Seriously, the past couple nights, I have not gotten home until around 8 at night. It is crazy, and will be until the end of June. Oh well, I love every minute. I like to be busy and involved-I LOVE being a MOM! Here is a rundown of what has been going on:
Friday (May 1st)-I took off the entire day and cleaned my house, ran to Walmart and got stuff ready for Kelsye's party. Originally we planned on having it outside, however the temps got a little cooler than expected so her Dora fiesta was inside. In one of the pictures Kelsye is throwing a fit before the guests arrived-I guess it was her party and she can cry if she wants too! We had a great time, and Kelsye had a bunch of fun. She got some books, bubbles, a Dora 3-wheeler, and a little tikes basketball goal so she can shoot around with Trevor. Since it was a fiesta, we had homemade taco salad (thanks mom), chips & dip, meatballs, ham salad sandwiches, drinks, cake and ice cream. It was a really good time! I can't believe my little girl is 2!

Saturday (May 2nd)-This was Opening Day for baseball for Trevor. We had woke up around 6 that morning and watched the radar and it was calling for rain. I was for sure the parade and games were going to be cancelled. I dozed back off until Trevor woke me up at 8:20 fully dressed and ready. He had to be at the park at 8:30 for the parade at 9. I freaked out-I never oversleep and hate to be rushed! He got some cereal and James took him to the park, while I got ready, woke Kelsye up, and detangled her crazy hair. We got there just in time and watched Trevor in the parade. He did really good in his game. Last year he had a rough time hitting the ball, but WOW this year he hit it in the outfield, and did really good as catcher! I am hoping his good skills continue this year and many years to come! That night I had my little cousins come over to babysit Trevor, Kelsye and my neice Bella while James and I, my brother, and mom and dad attended the benefit dinner/music at Bloomfield for the little boy burn victims. The benefit raised over 22,000 dollars. The only downfall to the night was on the way home, my mom hit a HUGE deer with her car and damaged it very bad. James wanted the deer, so being the lovely wife I am helped him drag it to the side of the road. Must be love-right? Ha ha! It weighed over 200 pounds! When we got home around 11:00 on Saturday night, Kelsye and Bella were sound asleep-picture below!

Sunday (May 3rd)-This was a down day for me-since the rest of the weekend exhausted me! I did homework, some laundry, and just chilled out! We did have Dairy Queen for lunch!

This week has been busy with work, and school work. James got our garden planted that we are sharing with my mom and dad at their house, Trevor had ball practice last night, and has two games one Thursday night and one Friday night. I plan on planting flowers this weekend and of course garage sales and homework! Until next time!

Weekend!

Wow! What a productive weekend! I am impressed! It is amazing what a couple good days of nice weather will do for a person! Friday I came home early, mowed, and layed mulch. The swing set was also moved, and frame built around it for the pea gravel. Saturday most of the day was spent spreading pea gravel. James got 4 ton of pea gravel, and it is all nice and pretty in around the swing set! It was tough work! This morning we got up bright and early, and stained the entire swing set! It looks alot better. James is working on getting the tarp up, and the swings, etc. The kids love it. Kelsye also turned 2 on Saturday! We didnt do much for her bday, since her party is this coming Friday! I have added some pics. The first ones are when Kelsye fell asleep swinging on Saturday, and then the next two are a before and after picture of the swing set. I got this for 50.00, spent 15.00 dollars for stain, and 24.00 for pea gravel. I also spent around 60.00 for new stuff to go in it I think it is a good deal since these are around 1,200 new!
